Lynn Woods
Trail Maintenance - 2008
Project Location: Lynn Woods
Project #: LYW091408
Date:
09.14.2008
Even in the pouring rain, Dieselbikes
was able to complete 100% of our third trail day in Lynn Woods with help
from the local biking community. This was a sizable project and a
continuation of our furthering efforts to repair sections of Overlook Trail.
Our main objective was achieved and we are happy to say the new trail
section is open for use.
A crew of 9 volunteers worked 4 hours
re-routing an eroded section of Overlook Trail between marker D4-6 and
Overlook Crag. The old section of trail was heavily eroded becoming a
path for water to drain off the hillside. We were able to cut a new
more sustainable section of trail parallel to the old section and added a
few fun features. It was raining all throughout the work day so we
were not able to get any pictures, but have going back later in the week and
posted the photos below. The new section is well marked and the old section
has been closed. We will let the trail naturally pack down over the
next 6 months and come back in the spring to make any adjustments if
required.
As usually, this was a good size
project and even with the heavy rain, everyone work hard to get the job
done. I want to extend my personal thanks to each individual (listed
below) that helped complete this project. The amount of work completed
by the volunteers was amazing. I look forward to see everyone again in
future trail builds and/or maintenance projects.
