Lynn Woods
Trail Maintenance - 2010
Project Location: Lynn Woods
Project #: LYW20100424
Date:
04.24.2010
On Saturday April 24 the first of four
2010 Lynn Woods trail project was completed. It was a perfect day for trail
building and we had a number of volunteers show up to help complete this
project. Working on the Espresso Trail, our goal was to finish some minor
adjustments on the top two berms while widened and built up the bottom berm
to make the downward run flowier.
We had 11 volunteers that worked hard
digging, pulling rocks and cutting trees to build up the third switchback
mid level on the Espresso Trail. This switchback was not only widened but
the apex of the turn was lengthened to provide better flow allowing
aggressive rides to rail the turn. A secondary project was to finish up some
loose ends on the upper two turns that were not completed during last years
trail day.
The upper sections of Espresso are
complete and appear to be extremely stable; holding up to the periods of
heavy rain we had over the past few months. Erosion is low and areas for
water drainage are doing there job as intended. We still have more work to
conduct on the bottom section of Espresso with the installation of an off
camber jump and technical line over some large boulders. This work will be
completed next year.
As usually, this was a large project
to tackle in one day and the team of volunteers worked hard to get the job
completed in 5 hours. I want to extend my personal thanks to each individual
(listed below; may have missed a few) that helped complete this project. The
amount of work completed by the volunteers was backbreaking and difficult
working on the hillside. I look forward to see everyone again in future
trail builds and or maintenance projects.
